Illustration Friday: Ripple

Ripple illustration by Christina Rodriguez.

It’s a very special Illustration Friday this week!  Artist extraordinaire Kelly Light has organized a project called Ripple. Artists are creating sketched, painted, or digitally-printed 2.5”x3.5” cards for sale at $10 apiece. The $10.00 is a donation to help the animal victims of the Deep Water Horizon Gulf Oil Spill, and every penny is donated.

The two non-profit organizations that are benefitting are The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies and The International Bird Rescue Research Center. To purchase this card, donate directly to one of the non-profits and email the confirmation and your address to ripplesketches@verizon.net. I will then mail you the signed digital print, matted and ready for placement in a 5”x7” frame.

To sweeten the deal, if you donate $20, I’ll also send you a signed paperback copy of Storm Codes.  Just include to whom you’d like the book inscribed in your confirmation email.

Please donate today!  Thanks to Kelly for setting up this project and for everyone’s support and we try to make a difference.

UPDATE: Both the print and the book have sold!  Thanks so much to the kind donors!

Beautiful! Is it actually done at that scale?

Thank you for posting this information. I keep seeing all these images of the oil covered animals and keep wondering how to help.

@Kate: Thanks for the compliment! It's actually not done at the scale. The original painting was much larger and donated to a nature center years ago. I love herons and hope this print will help raise donations!
