Illustration Friday: Stir

A Day with my Aunts illustration by Christina Rodriguez.

My submission for this week’s Illustration Friday comes from the bilingual picture book, A Day with my Aunts / Un dia con mis Tías. As Tía Dulce stirs the pot of picadillo, Isabel stirs and mixes dough with her hands. Together, they are making delicious empanadas, a recipe for which can be found in the book.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

No wonder you were so speedy with your stir entry. You had a perfect illo for it. Your little baker has a very sweet face.

Thanks, Sharon! I modeled Isabel after a very sweet little girl I taught at Summer Camp oh so many years ago. She must be a teenager by now!

I love it—especially your sense of color. Everything is so warm and inviting, and your images just glow. I gave this book to my niece (a gift from her tía!), and she loves it!
