Twin Cities Book Festival

Twin Cities Book Festival banner.

Fellow Elva Resa illustrator Nina Crittenden and I will be at the Twin Cities Book Festival next weekend and we’d love it if you stopped by!  I’ll be signing copies of the award-winning children’s book, The Wishing Tree and Nina will be signing her debut book, Cedric and the Dragon, which is sure to be winning awards soon.  Nina recently sold out all her copies of Cedric at the Minnesota SCBWI Fall Conference, so grab the next batch while you can!

Twin Cities Book Festival
Date: Saturday, October 16th 2010
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Place: Minneapolis Community and Technical College, 1501 Hennepin Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55403

The Children’s Book Illustrators Guild of Minnesota (CBIG) will also be in attendance, so please be sure to stop by their booth as well.  They’ll be passing out information on the group and selling books and art by notable CBIG members Alicia Schwab, Marilyn Brown, and others.

We hope to see you there!

CBIG Reception Recap

Reception of the CBIG/MCBA art show.

While I was unfortunately unable to attend the Children's Book Illustrators Guild of Minnesota show reception at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts last Thursday night, I’m relieved to hear it went well.  It’s a smaller show than we normally do, but the art is great and of course you can’t find a better location!  Check out some great photos from the event on the CBIG blog.

The show is running through June 20th on the upper level of the MCBA.  Thanks to all the volunteers who put this together!

CBIG Art Show at St. Thomas Recap

Storm Codes prints by Christina Rodriguez.

Thanks to all the folks who were undeterred by the rain and attended yesterday's opening reception for Minnesota Made: Through the Eyes of the Children's Book Illustrators Guild of Minnesota. It was really fun to see so many faces, both new and old, as we celebrated the event at St. Thomas University. The artwork was amazing (I love having so many talented friends!) and the networking was great!

If you’re local and missed the reception, you can still see the show. It runs through February 28th and will be on view during the popular Hubbs Children’s Literature Conference. Stop by and check it out!

Special thanks goes to the Star Tribune for the press they gave us, UST's art history librarian Sue Focke for acting as our liaison, and CBIG’s fearless leader, Vicki Deutsch, for organizing the show.
